Joe was in the hospital for a number of weeks fighting COVID-19. He seemed to be doing better, but things took a turn for the worst very recently. Joe was a great worker with many skills and a wonderful person. Let's be sure to keep him, his wife Martha, and the rest of his family in our thoughts and prayers. Many thanks. Ed Clark Public School District featured post Week's End Friday, April 24, 2020 Good afternoon, Thanks for a great week back to remote learning. To me, it seems as though it was just Monday morning and here we are headed into the weekend. This past Wednesday was Administrative Professionals’ Day. While we were unable to celebrate as we more typically would have, I want to send a very special thank you to all of our assistants as they make our lives easier through their good efforts. They are a beyond key factor to the smooth functioning of our schools and district as a whole. Some parents have rightfully so inquired about refunds. The Business Office is in the process of beginning to process refund checks for cancelled activities and field trips. Please understand that this process will take some time due to, for example, the need for us to wait for some of the hosting sites to issue their refunds to us. Refunds for our before/after care program will be addressed after the Governor’s May 15th update. I am looking forward to reconnecting next week at which time we will begin to honor our most recent Governor’s Educators of the Year. In the meantime, please take time to unplug and recharge this weekend, and continue to stay Crusader Strong! Ed Grande Superintendent of Schools Clark Public School District featured post 2020 NJ State Seal of Biliteracy Recipients Thursday, April 23, 2020 Good afternoon, Today we will recognize our students who received the 2020 New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy. These students needed to demonstrate a proficiency level of Intermediate Mid in all four domains of a world language. In addition, they were required to demonstrate proficiency in English by meeting the State high school graduation requirements for English language arts or through attaining the appropriate cut score on the ACCESS for English Language Learners (ELLs) assessment. The attached table contains a list of their names and the world language for which they each earned the Seal. Ed Grande Superintendent of Schools 2020 NJ State Seal of Biliteracy Recipients(1).pdf Clark Public School District featured post Perfect 2019 NJSLA Scores Wednesday, April 22, 2020 Good afternoon, We were planning to have a Showcase of Success at our April Board of Education meeting as a means of honoring some of our more than well-deserving students and staff members. Since doing so was not possible, we will be recognizing those individuals via our daily Honeywell messages instead. We will begin today with those students who earned perfect scores on one of last spring's (2019) New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) tests. Given how challenging these tests are, this was no small feat. A list containing their names and the tests for which they each received a perfect score is attached. Ed Grande Superintendent of Schools Clark Public School District featured post Welcome Back Monday, April 20, 2020 Good afternoon, Hope you and your families enjoyed our spring break and found the past week to be a relaxing one. As a reminder, Governor Murphy has closed all New Jersey schools through at least Friday, May 15. As we get closer to that time, he will be making a reevaluation regarding any possible reopening. Regardless of whether or not schools are able to reopen after the 15th, all school-related activities and field trips scheduled for the month of May are being canceled. ALJ senior Taylor Turek has led the creation of an Instagram posting that highlights the college admissions of the ALJ Class of 2020. This posting can be found on the Instagram account @aljhsseniors2020 and also on the ALJ Facebook page. As you will see, we, as a school community, have a great deal to be proud of!
